Pimp C’s Bentley Totaled By Fleeing Gang Members

April 21st, 2006 | By Administrator

UGK member Pimp C was treated for minor injuries Wednesday (April 18), after he was involved in a car accident while leaving the video shoot for his new single “Pourin’ Up.”

After the shoot concluded Pimp C and a Rap-A-Lot security guard departed in a silver Bentley.

Mike Jones, who makes a cameo appearance in the video, followed in his black Bentley.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that a mile away from the set, two groups of people in separate vehicles were involved in a dispute, when one fired upon the other.

A Port Arthur Police officer that was escorting the rappers responded to the gunfire and pursued the shooters.

As the suspects fled through local neighborhoods on a flat tire, they crossed over Gulf Way Dr., ran a red light and struck Pimp C’s Bentley at high speed.

The back left of Pimp C’s Bentley was damaged.

Pimp C was treated for minor injuries and released but the Rap-A-Lot security guard is still in the hospital, although he is expected to make a full recovery.

Keisha Hunter, one of the producers of the “Pourin’ Up'” video, said Pimp C was a victim of circumstance.

Hunter also cleared up rumors that Pimp C had actually been shot.

“It is truly unfortunate that these gentleman were innocent bystanders that happened to drive through the wrong place at the wrong time,” Hunter told AllHipHop.com. “The local residents that were shooting at one another were all apprehended and the Port Arthur police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the motivation for them shooting at one another. At no time were Pimp C nor Mike Jones the targets of the shots that were fired and at no time were any of them injured by the gunfire that was more than a block ahead of them.”

Police seized an automatic weapon from three alleged gang members, who were later arrested in connection with the incident.

“The accident was crazy,” Mike Jones told AllHipHop.com. “I seen it first hand I’m just glad that everyone is OK.”

Pimp C’s new album Pimpalation is slated to hit stores June 13.

Lil’ Wanye’s Former Manager Files Lawsuit Over $500k In Back Commissions

April 7th, 2006 | By Administrator

Cash Money Records rapper Lil Wayne is the focus of a new lawsuit filed by his former manager.

In the lawsuit, filed Wednesday (April 5) in U.S. District Court in Miami, Lil Wayne (born Dwayne Carter) told White Tides Entertainment president Melissa Philipian last December that he was firing her after he became angry over the quality of a hotel room booked for him.

As a result, the 23-year-old rapper refused to pay $500,000 in back commissions, according to Philipian’s lawyer Richard Wolfe, who added that Lil Wayne also owes White Tides 15 percent of his earnings over the next two years under a three-year contract signed in June 2005.

“We’re probably looking at damages in excess of $1 million,” Wolfe told the Miami Herald. “Sometimes artists make it big, and they want to forget about the people who helped them get there.”

The lawsuit further stated that Lil Wayne’s contract with White Tides only allows him to end the agreement in writing after one-year of service for specified contract breaches.

The company booked at least 21 concerts for the rapper as well as arranged product and publicity deals and organized guest performances on other artists’ videos and albums.

The quality of a hotel room does not qualify as a reason to end the contract, so Lil Wayne is liable to pay White Tides for the next two years, Wolfe said.

News of the lawsuit comes as Lil Wayne enjoys the success of his latest album, Tha Carter, II.

Since debuting at number two on Billboard’s Top 100 albums chart in December, the album has gone platinum.

The rapper, who serves as head of Cash Money and Young Money Entertainment, is currently studying psychology at the University of Houston this semester, according to his website.

Lil Wayne and his lawyer, Ron Sweeney, could not be reached for comment Thursday (April 6).

The rapper (born Donnell Prince) had been charged with rape and two counts of aggravated sodomy, stemming from an alleged Dec. 16 assault. Dekalb County police had accused Don P and another man of assaulting and raping a 16-year-old girl, an accusation that he flatly denied.

Attorneys for Don P. confirmed with AllHipHop.com that the charges were dismissed, after the District Attorney’s office acknowledged that they could not show probable cause that the incident had occurred.

“I just want to let everyone know that the case was dismissed because the DA had lack of evidence and they didn’t there was no probable cause,” Don P told AllHipHop.com. “It was too many people on the street saying that the girl wanted money. I guess she told people she wanted to get money from me.”

“Once they started investigating, witnesses from the party came forward to give their story of what happened,” Don P continued. “The guy who brought her to the party said that on the way over the girl was like ‘I love Don P, he’s my favorite one out the group?I wanna have sex with him.'”

Don P said the case was dismissed over a month ago, on Feb. 24.

“Sorry for not letting everybody know right when it happened, but I’ve been working the whole time that the case was going on and not really thinking about it,” he said. “In the end, everything worked out like it was supposed too.”

Trillville is best known for their hits “Neva Eva” and “Some Cut.”

Don P. also revealed that he was working on a DVD similar to Girls Gone Wild.

“[The DVD] was gonna be a hardcore porn at first, but now it’s gonna be like Girls Gone Wild. All the s**t on the road, in the hotel room. It’s like in the middle [of production]. We got girls from city to city to city coming to the hotel. It’s gonna make everybody wanna be a rapper.”
