The performers never were charged with attacking a fan. The young man was brutally assaulted as fans acted out the lyrics during the group's performance of the song, "Let's Start a Riot." Since the law suit was filed, the young man, through his attorney, withdrew his complaint against Darnell Carter and Robert Cooper. This week, the group's attorney filed motions to have all of the complaints dismissed because they say, as performers, have a First Amendment right to sing those lyrics with impugnity.
